Launch of Term 4 Learning Studio Enrichment Program

The Microsoft HP Learning Studio Enrichment Program begins in Term 4. Students will be extended in the areas of design and technology, working together in teams to solve design challenges. They will use the latest technology including HP Touch Laptops, HP 3D Sprout Computer, 3D Printer, Makey Makey kits, and CAD software. 2018 Resource Allocation Model funding

In October 2017, all NSW public schools will receive a 2018 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. Duke of Edinburgh Success

The Duke of Edinburgh program enriches the lives of students by providing challenging opportunities to learn new skills in leadership, outdoor adventure, community service, recreation as well as build upon existing skills in areas such as music, art or sport. Marrickville students can participate in Duke of Ed from Year 9. MHS Rock Band are part of the music line up at the Marrickville Festival on Sunday 22nd October. The group will perform a range of hits on the Break Stage at 10am. Marrickville High School's Junior boys basketball team claimed the Bligh Zone premiership title with an impressive 62 - 30 win against Leichhardt. NDIS continues its roll out across NSW

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) started in NSW in July 2016, rolling out across half of the state. The rollout for the rest of NSW started on 1 July 2017 and the NDIS will be fully rolled out by mid 2018. The NSW government is writing to the families of children and young people with disability who currently receive disability supports in the rollout areas to advise how and when they will enter the NDIS. Two wonderful members of The Sapphires sister's Beverly Griggs and Laurel Robinson, visited our English and History students. They recalled their experiences living on a mission, performing for the troops in Vietnam, not even know where Vietnam was, and finding themselves in the middle of a war zone. The women spoke openly about their life in rural Australia, their dreams and hopes, work and future plans. Wakakirri NIDA Performance

Congratulations to the MHS Wakakirri team for choreographing an amazing performance at NIDA. Students performed to a packed audience. Their drama and dance ensemble won three awards. Visual Arts teacher Ms Jemima Hall and Drama teacher Mr Zan Cross worked with students over many weeks to put together their award winning performance. NAPLAN Online School readiness test

NSW schools will participate in the NAPLAN Online School Readiness Test from 14 August to 22 September. There is a lot of information for schools, students and parents on the NAPLAN Online transition website. The school readiness test is a ‘practice run' for schools to assess their technology as we prepare to transition to NAPLAN Online. It provides an opportunity for schools to become familiar with the NAPLAN Online assessment platform but is not an assessment of student ability.... Read more

Art 4 Agriculture Archibull Farming Partnership

It is not every day a Cotton Farmer from Tamworth visits. Marrickville High School Commerce and Visual Art students welcomed their agricultural mentor, 22 year old Agronomist and Young Farming Champion Casey Onus, who will join students on their creative quest decorate a life sized bull as part of the prestigious Art 4 Agriculture Archibull Art Prize exploring the theme "We're all in this together". Students are enjoying the cross collaborative process as they come up with a unique and creative design that reflects the 2017 theme.... Read more
